Photos and Video: Live Great Run 2012 @ Menara MATRADE

Live Great, Run Great. :)

That must be the buzzword for the day. Around 5,000 runners too part in the inaugural "Live Great Run 2012" that was flagged off at the Menara MATRADE, Kuala Lumpur.

The race route took runners past part of Jalan Duta and Jalan Kuching, Publika Solaris Dutamas, the spanking new Istana Negara and Hartamas Shopping Centre.

A unique feature was included into the 12km run - where runners have to jump over two rows of water barriers and go through a mini labyrinth formed by metal barricades. (Note: Sorry, we do not have pictures at this section as we we can't be at two places at the same time. Heheh!)

One of the highlights of the run was its first-of-its-kind 3km fun run with more than 300 pairs of runners.

Each pair saw two runners sharing an oversized double T-shirt and running in tandem.

The concerted effort in pairs not only aims to bring partners and family members closer together but embodies the essence that life's journey is sweeter when one goes through it with their loved ones. :)

Smile so that you don't look like a dead fish when you cross the finish line. :)

Director and CEO of Great Eastern, Dato Koh Yaw Hui and his wife, Datin Law Ping Ping completed the 3km run with huge smiles! :)

Two thumbs up for Dato and Datin!

We would like to see more CEOs of corporations participating in run or walk events. Get active and lead by example for a healthy lifestyle. Healthy employees, less medical leaves = good for the company, no? ;)

How do you do a "Gangnam Style" when you and your partner are in a huge T shirt? Find out in the video. Heheh!

If you like the photos you see here, there are plenty more in our FB Page http://www.facebook.com/celebrunner. Do LIKE our page and check out the two albums of Live Great Run 2012 that we have posted. ENJOY!

Review: Brooks PureDrift - Out of the Box

Brooks PureProject returns next year with PureDrift, a shoe designed to allow you to experience running next to naked feet and bring out the “cavemen” and “cavewomen” out of you, Heheh!

We were quite excited to be the selected few who get the chance to try out the shoes even before the shoes are available in store by the generous people at Brooks Malaysia. See, the box is marked as "sample".

Jeng..Jeng..Jeng...Presenting the Brooks PureDrift.

The model given to us is black and bright Nightlife yellow in colour.

The shoes feel very light. It's almost like carrying an empty box.

The hyper-light shoes weigh 159g for men and 145g for women.

The shoe mimics the shape of the foot for a closer fit.

Developed under the PureProject, PureDrift has the similar technology applied across the family.

1. Ideal Heel

Brooks signature inverted heel promotes a natural foor strike by landing in a more forward position of the foot. This aligns the runner's centre of gravity and encourages optimal energy return.

2. Toe Flex

The dual toe box split allows the forefoot to flex through its three functional units, creating natural balance and springy push off.

3. Anatomical Last

The shoe's shape contours the foot for a glove-like feel and gives support for very inch of the foot.

4. Nav Band

The flexible band wraps over the instep to secure the foot in place.

5. Tuned Density Midsole

Brooks has tuned the density of the midsoles to better correspond with gender and weight categories, giving the perfect cushioning.

6. BioMoGo DNA.

The BioMogo Earth-friendly midsole technology is blended with the patent-pending DNA smart cushioning to create springy returns and custom comfort.

Anatomic last, 14mm at the heel + 4mm drop with insole. 0 drop and 8mm overall with insole taken off for a zero-drop experience i.e running kaki ayam! :)

PureDrift is hyper-light weight and ultra flexible! You can even fold or roll up the shoe.

...and twist it as you like! :)

We can't wait to take them babies out for some personal "drifting" experience soon.

Brooks PureDrift will be available at Brooks outlets and dealers coming Jan 2013. RRP RM399 per pair.

Press Release: Reebok And Marvel Unleash Real Super Power for Your Feet

REEBOK & MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCH CAPSULE COLLECTION FEATURING ICONIC SUPER HEROES & VILLIAN

25th October ’12 Petaling Jaya - Reebok Classics and Marvel Entertainment, LLC have joined forces to create a very special and unique 5 silhouette sneaker capsule collection featuring some of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

The collection features a range of iconic and new classic Reebok silhouettes - the Ventilator, Pump Fury & Night Storm HLS, not to mention the Freestyle Hi for the ladies. Each shoe features iconic Marvel Super Heroes and villains, to bring the shoe and the story to life highlighted by a host of design details.

Ventilator: Captain America. Steve Rogers was a frail young man who was enhanced by an experimental super-soldier serum in order to aid the United States war effort, making him Captain America. Encased in ice for decades after WWII, Cap is back…and on the Reebok Ventilator.

One of the lightest running shoes when it was introduced in the early 90’s, the Ventilator features Hexalite in the heel for lightweight cushioning & shock absorption and vented side panels for breathability. The Ventilator: Captain America features material and colorways inspired by Captain America’s uniform with scale embossed overlays which actually mimic his armor.

Insta Pump Fury: Spider-Man. Arguably Marvel’s most iconic character, Spider-Man is able to cling to walls, has superhuman strength and speed, perfect balance, equilibrium and agility.

When it was released in 1994, the Insta Pump Fury was described as the ultimate running shoe. It incorporates three proven Reebok technologies – Graphlite, Hexalite and Pump – into one radical looking shoe. With just a few pumps the exoskeleton inflates, wrapping the foot and eliminating the need for laces.

We all know how bold and iconic this silhouette is – but with the added features of Spider-Man colorways and graphic treatments – this shoe really stands out in the pack.

Night Storm HLS: Venom. The Venom symbiote is a sentient extraterrestrial life form with a gooey, almost liquid-like form that attaches itself to a host.

The Night Storm HLS was introduced in 2012 as a reinterpretation of the Night Sky Mid and features a Graphlite shank and Hexalite in the heel, making it lighter than its predecessor. This mainly black shoe has 3D raised screen print graphics on the underlays, bright white speed-lacing and outsole and the image of Venom emblazoned on the insole.

Not forgetting the ladies – the Reebok x Marvel collection also includes the iconic Freestyle Hi silhouette.

Freestyle Hi: White Queen. Emma Frost is a mutant telepath who has evolved from one of the X-Men’s most dangerous foes to one of its most central members. Also known as White Queen, she has the ability to transform her body into organic diamond, rendering her nearly invulnerable and super-strong.

Designed for women, the Freestyle Hi features a rounded toe, slim line profile and petite Velcro straps, making it a favorite among trendsetters everywhere. The white textured leather upper resembles her suit, while the embossed dual straps, clear ice outsole and flow molded hangtag are obvious references to the facets of her diamond form.

Freestyle Hi: Black Widow. The Black Widow is an agent spy in the international espionage group S.H.I.E.L.D. She is a world class gymnast, expert martial artist, marksman and weapons specialist.

Making its debut in 1982, the Freestyle was the first fitness shoe designed especially for women and embodies the spirit of an entire generation. This shoe embodies Black Widow by using materials on the upper that mimic her shiny leather suit and iconic red hair, along with gold dual Velcro straps and a flow molded Black Widow logo hangtag.

RRP ranges from RM329.00 to RM479.00

In-store from 1st November 2012.

Available at: Stadium Pavilion, Stadium KLCC, Studio-R Mid Valley, Studio-R Gurney & Reebok One Utama.
